So here is the fireplace. It was really hard to get anything to go with the orange brick and it was the focal point of our living room and our kitchen. Luckily my fireplace foe was soon to be defeated. While surfing on Pinterest *Insert shout out to Stefanie Beck here* (for guiding me to Pinterest) I found my inspiration at the Lettered Cottage.
Using my new favorite addiction Liquid Nails, I attached luan plywood to the face of the fireplace.

A finished fireplace!
After some added moldings we painted it a flat white. I purposely chose the roughest wood because I like the "character" of the gouges and the rough places. If you don't like that farmhouse look you could go with some finishing wood that is perfectly pretty with no blemishes. Overall it completely changed the look of our room and made the focal point of the house quite nice! Can't wait to decorate for Christmas!
